Marisa McIntyre
Stage & Theatre
Marisa is the classic triple threat performer. An accomplished dancer, she started training at the age of three with Jazz, Tap and Ballet, competing all over Canada and
the United States.
This inevitably lead to a stage career, and she landed her first
professional role at the age of 13 as Amaryllis in The Stratford Festival production of
The Music Man. She went on to play various roles including Mary in The Secret
Garden, Cinderella in Cinderella, The Princess in Aladdin (Waterloo Stage Theatre)
Lisel in The Sound of Music (Center in the Square).
Marisa was cast at 18 to star as
Sophie Sheridan in the hit musical Mamma Mia with Mirvish Productions. Her age an
initial concern they offered her the understudy but after auditions in London England,
New York and L.A they chose her for the role. She stayed with the company for two
years and toured with the show to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver in 2003.
She re- joined the cast in 2005 for the show's final four months.
Marisa recorded a
demo of original music and has been working across Canada in t.v and film as well as
various musical theatre shows. In 2008 Marisa appeared as herself in the hit t.v show
How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? (CBC). The 6 month process took her to
London and Salzburg Austria to sing for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber followed by a 7 week
live show where she placed in the top four. After the finale Marisa organized a series of
Breast Cancer Benefits titled The JAM Show with a fellow contestant, and held a sold
out performance at Waterloo's St. Jacob Country Playhouse.
Marisa was chosen with
11 comedians from across Canada to workshop and perform the comedy pilot of YTV's
show That's So Wierd!. Marisa continues to perform in theatre including, Diana Barry
in Anne & Gilbert (Thousand Island Playhouse) and Anne of Green Gables (The
Globe theatre), Janet VanDegraff in The Drowsy Chaperon (Thousand Island
Playhouse), Words and Music (The Berkeley Street Theatre), He Sang She Sang
(The Rose Theatre), White Christmas (Manitoba Theatre Centre), I Love You're
Perfect Now Change (The Rose Theatre) and most recently the lead character Natalie
in the broadway show All Shook Up (Stage West Calgary).
Film and t.v credits include;
The Stalking of Laurie Show (U.S movie of the week), Exhibit A: Secret of Forensic
Science, The Salem Witch Trials with Shirley MacLaine (CBS), The Rick Mercer
Report (CBC) and guest starring roles as Judy Rogers in True Calling (FOX) and
Rebecca in DOC with Billy Ray Cyrus.
